Your voice is A Crucial Part of Recovery, and you’ll need to start using it.

Silencing one’s voice is the most powerful way abusers keep their victims in good public standing while experiencing torture in the privacy of the relationship.

We must all learn to use our voices effectively; that skill takes practice. If you're not good at it, you haven't practiced. Keep trying; don't write it off. It's a skill.

In this clip, I share some ways of what it looks like as an adult to be silenced by abusers and some ways to get started using your voice.

Go ahead, record, listen, and get comfortable with the sounds coming from your mouth. Your words are valuable and should no longer be silenced, no matter how poorly you've been treated or threatened.

It won’t be perfect because nothing is perfect. We need to embrace the organic nature of the unique qualities God has given us, such as our voice and the ideas that come through it.

For my deaf friends, use those hands 😊

Practice using your voice, and you will eventually become comfortable with it.
