Some people tell you something very painful is going on in their life but defend the perpetrator with phrases like “he’s willing to go to counseling” when clearly only one member of the relationship actually cares and is willing to make changes.
I know of two beautiful young women who have sustained relationships throughout their 20s with the hopes that there would be change. It resonates with my painful past that ended with divorce after 22 excruciating years and children who do not see my value.
Such defensive comments in the midst of a trauma tale is an indication that someone is being abused. Victims feel extreme guilt and shame around telling the truth in a way that makes the abuser look bad. Victims are groomed to protect the image of their abusers until we heal and become set free from the metaphorical cage in which we were kept from peace and pursuance of individuality.
The devil uses narcissistic abuse to confuse trusting souls who never suspect the depth of deception into which one is committed.
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”
Ephesians 6:12
There is a full-blown spiritual battle for tender souls. The world is running rampant with deception, and those seeking truth don't trust those who have it.
People pleasers must begin recognizing their service to the devil by allowing one’s mind to disintegrate in a desire for acceptance from one who is incapacitated for such things. God accepts each of us through repentance in the blood of Christ, but we seek man's approval and suffer rejection.
Ephesians 6: 10-18
We are experiencing the birthing pains of end times. God is patiently waiting for people to come to him, but the day is coming when there will no longer be choices.
