What is Holding you Back from Pursuing Your Dreams?

It is my firm belief that God has designed a vision for your life that lives in your soul. It reveals itself as a desire, a hope or a dream. Many children are bold and confident about their vision. They state:

“I’m going to be a firefighter”
“I’m going to be president.”
“I’m going to be a singer.”
Or, “I’m going to be a ballerina.”

All too often though, dreams get interrupted with practical statements from loved ones, bullying proclamations from peers, or the whisper of the devil himself who says, “you don’t really think you can…”

I believe the world is lacking greatness because of the limitations we allow others to prophesy over our lives.

I wanted to be a ballerina though someone whom I respected, told me that I did not have the build of a ballet dancer. I believed what that person said and I let that dream die.
My mother wanted to be a doctor, and even though she majored in biology, someone dissuaded her from pursuing that dream.
I was unaware that God put the desire to dance in my heart. Now I know He would have equipped me to fulfill that calling, just as He is fulfilling my calling right now. Despite any physical limitations in either case. I have tremendous learning comprehension issues and reading is very challenging for me. However, He shows His power through my writing.

God doesn’t call the equipped. He equips the called.

I believe this is His way of demonstrating who He is and His capacity.
You reading my writing is proof of how He can do anything with the smallest amount of faith!

Matthew 17:20 (ESV)
He said to them, “Because of your little faith truly, I say to you. If you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

I have a child who wanted to be a Marine. He pursued his dream by reading leadership books and learning marches, but somewhere that dream was snuffed out. The dream was permitted to die. I feel deep in my soul that the devil destroyed God’s calling for my son and our world will suffer from the loss of a great soldier.
I know a girl who wanted to be a fashion designer but her mother insisted, “Most people don’t make much money in fashion design.” The young girl abandoned that dream.
I am married to a man who had a yearning to be a doctor. He never pursued that calling even though the vision never died. Our world is lacking one of the greatest MD’s, although we have an incredible entrepreneur.
I have a child who would love to be a theoretical physicist but he is pursuing something with more job security. I wonder what the world is missing out on. My son has a mind that God called to think like no other. He has chosen a secure, and no doubt successful, path yet I still wonder what would happen if he followed God’s vision.

Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

I can’t help but think about some of my heroes who courageously stepped out in faith and radically impacted the future of society- worldwide! They were and are just people who followed the vision inside. What if we all did that?

Was a dream planted in your heart that has been in decay ever since someone came to you and said, “you don’t really think you can do that, do you?”

It is my desire to come and share my Soul Work Workshop with your group.

• We will identify the obstacles that dissuaded you from chasing it.
• We will reevaluate the origins of discouragement and the hindrances that you have allowed to usurp God’s vision.
• We will evaluate the validity of the dissuasion.

• We will identify what holds you back from a God-given vision.
• We will visit, evaluate and step out in faith to let His blessings in us begin to emerge and touch others.

One of my favorite inspirations are the older women who have decided to pursue bodybuilding. They remind me it’s never too late!
